Renting home improvement and gardening tools

Most construction contractors realize that they can save a substantial amount by renting equipment which is not used more than 70% of  the time. Many home owners are not aware of this and buy expensive equipment every time they start a home improvement project or modify their garden. However, home owners are increasingly renting tools and equipment. 

Some of  the benefits of renting home improvement tools and equipment like forklifts, backhoes, diggers, power saws are:

1. Cheaper to use - if an expensive tool is going to be used less than five times a year, it is cheaper to rent it. Most rental shops offer tools for rent for a duration of  four hours, twenty four hours (a day) or a week. The home owner can select the rental period depending on the duration of  the project.

2. Most rental stores stock the latest models of  the tools with updated technology. Since these tools are used regularly, they can be replaced every two or three years.

3. No storage space or maintenance is required from the home owner. Large equipment may take up costly storage space in homes when they are not in use. Also moving parts in any equipment get worn out quickly and it is more economical when they are replaced by the store owner, who may be keeping a stock of  these parts.

4. A home owner can rent and use different tools for a short duration, before selecting the most suitable option. This is not be possible when a single model of  high value equipment is purchased.

Before renting the equipment, it is advisable to discuss the project with the rental store staff , so that they can help in selection of  the most suitable equipment. Also the home owner should learn how to handle the equipment and precautions  to be taken. The terms and condition for leasing  equipment including liability for damage, specified by the rental store should be clearly understood.
